Debut delight for Beasley

Hunstanton’s Tom Beasley made a remarkable debut in the Norfolk boy’s championship when he won the title by four shots.

Beasley, who was playing off two, had rounds of one-over par 73 and 74 to finish clear of runner-up Matthew Strudwick, a member of the host club, The Norfolk.

The handicap honours went to Dereham’s Frazer Chettleburgh who was playing off 25 had impressive net scores of nine-under 63 and 69. He won by seven shots.

The U16 scratch champion is Eaton’s Harry Brister, who won a similar title at the Norfolk schools’ championship.

He finished a shot ahead of Royal Cromer’s Tom Gomer. Barnham Broom’s Will Farley won the U16 handicap championship, again with two net scores in the 60s, in this case the nine-handicapper returned 67, 69.

The scratch team shield was won by Dereham while Royal Cromer were successful in the team handicap event.
