West Norfolk League: Hospital find the cure for their ailment with first win

After eight straight defeats, newly-promoted Hospital finally secured their first victory of the season as they won by seven runs at Downham B.

Downham’s Kit Bourlet took five for 23, but Sunil Anthrayose responded with six for 33 for Hospital.

League leaders Bircham fell to a shock one-wicket defeat at Hayley East Anglia. Will Pillinger scored 74 for Bircham but Nick Freeman (52) and Bradley Tennant (51no) helped Hayley to a narrow win.

Terrington missed the chance to go top as they lost to Denver despite a third century this season from Jason Young (102). Denver’s Douglas Pratt (66), Dan Cornwell (65) and Paul Morton (54) steered them to a five-wicket win.

Long Sutton beat Castle Rising by six wickets to move into second place, Jake Burton taking five for 33.

Damion Twiddy took four for 29 in Snettisham’s five-wicket win at Sandringham.

Castle Acre stayed top of Division Two with a 145-run victory over Thornham.

Martin Wall (52), Tom Ware (six for 26) and Connor Ashford (four for 19) were Castle Acre’s top performers.

Northwold moved up to third after beating Hockwold by two wickets. David English took four for 24 and Ash Drohan scored 55 for Northwold, with Carl Smith (four for 29) unable to prevent Hockwold’s defeat.

Billy Yarham scored 87no and Charlie Reed 53no as Fakenham A beat Narborough by 32 runs.Mick Broad scored 68 for Narborough but Colin Brassett (four for 35) and Thomas Hill (four for 36) sealed Fakenham’s win.

Division Three leaders Hillington A compiled the league’s largest score of the day as Craig Thaxton (64) and Aaron Jarvis (56) hit half-centuries in a 189-run win against 10-man Fakenham B.
