The Norfolk County Junior Championships were hosted by Costessey Park, with 36 holes of strokeplay deciding the titles.

In the Under-18 event, Liam Cossey of Royal Norwich returned a gross 71 in the first round to take the lead and added a 75 after lunch for an impressive total of 146 and a six-shot victory.

Ben Willis of Swaffham finished second on countback on 152 from Kale Heath of King's Lynn, while Josh Emery of Royal Norwich was fourth on 153.

The Under-18 handicap competition was won by Sam Devonport of Dereham with a nett 134, followed by Sprowston Manor pair Jacob Jeary (135) and Ethan Richmond (139),

Ewan Marshall of Eaton secured the Under-16 title with a two round total of 158 from Casey Patterson of Royal Cromer (159) and Lewis Simmons of Sheringham (164).

The Under-16 handicap title was won by Ben Cowles of Royal Norwich on a nett score of 143, beating Oliver Underhill-Smith of Barnham Broom on countback with Joseph Crane of Dereham third on 144. The scratch team event was won by Royal Norwich with the team of Cossey, Emery and Sonny Williams posting a combined gross total of 456 and the handicap team victory was secured by Barnham Broom's Ben Terry, Oliver Underhill-Smith and Jamie Black (441).

At the other end of the age scale the Norfolk Seniors' Championship is being staged at Royal Cromer next Thursday, with the action getting under way at 8am and the final trios teeing off just after midday.

As usual the event has been well supported, with 84 players taking part.

Mark Skipper, who won the competition at his home club of Eaton last year, is back to defend his title. He won with an excellent round of 72, four better than his nearest challengers.

Maggie Ward's Lady Captain's Day competition at Ryston Park was won by Tiff Mills with Dang Kittisak second and Caroline Cotterell third.
