Broadland and Norwich Dragons III setting a hot pace in Norfolk League

Broadland remain top on goal difference after winning 2-0 at Harleston Magpies IV while Dragons edged a third team derby with Norwich City 1-0 to also maintain a 100pc record after three games.

Natasha Blyth picked out Lydia Lawrence for her trademark tap-in to put Broadland ahead and Lawrence found the net again with a decisive strike midway through the half. There were some acrobatic saves from Sarah Craig after the break as the visitors held on to their advantage.

Dragons overcame a tough test to maintain their bright start. City's attacking unit really tested their defence, with Sophia Bassett, Rachael Phillips and Emily Greenway all going close.

The visitors also had their moments, however, and got the all-important goal 10 minutes from time when the ball pinged around the D and Lucy Morton forced it over the line.

Fiona Spencer scored twice as City IV came from behind twice to grab a draw at newly-promoted Lowestoft Railway, who had won their first two. Dragons V got their first points on the board after a 1-0 win over their fourths (Amelia Smith).

Broadland's second team also lead the way in Division One with a perfect record after beating Harleston Magpies V 4-3, with all the goals coming in the second half.

Broadland went 3-0 up through Catherine Brewster, Nikki Baker and Nikki Kent only for Magpies to get it back to 3-3 (Jenna Freeman, Jose Tibbenham and Victoria Spouncer) but the hosts had the final say through Nina Torin.

Dragons VI stayed top of Division Two by beating their City counterparts 2-1. Amy Forse and Jemima Dorman made it 2-0 before City pulled one back through Julia Marchant.

Broadland III beat Magpies III 5-0 (Carolyn Duthie 3, Kat Maddox, Wendy Anema) while Karen Hodgkinson scored all four goals as Thetford beat North Norfolk II 4-1.

Mia McGhee also hit four in a 6-0 win for Dragons VII over Magpies VII. Esme McKinnon-Evans and Ade Kraemer completed the scoring.
