Bloaters boss Mike Derbyshire has praised two of his talented young players for refusing to be lured away by potentially lucrative offers.

Striker Mitch Forbes and defender Rob Andersen have both been courted by ECL Premier Division clubs but, in a clear vote of confidence in the rebuilding project in progress at the Wellesley, have decided to remain with Yarmouth Town for the foreseeable future. 'Our newest signing, Robin Andersen, has been attracting attention ever since we brought him across from Norwich United as I guessed he would. He is, after all, a quality player,' said Derbyshire.

'But following an enquiry from a Premier Division side that I do not think it is fair to name, Rob made clear his commitment to Yarmouth for the remainder of this season at least.

'It is particularly pleasing to see that in this day age, when many people talk about the greediness of players and a lack of loyalty, Rob has shown how unfair those claims sometimes are by rejecting what could have been a lucrative move for him.

'The same must also be said of Mitch Forbes, another top-quality player who I knew would attract equal interest from a higher level. In fact, we received an approach for Mitch (again I do not think it fair to mention the club involved) as early as the first week of September. But he was just as quick to turn down any move and again, has committed himself to the club until the summer of 2013 at least. I am very grateful to both these young and talented players for their loyalty and for their belief in the ongoing project here.'

Simeon Lee, who skippered Town at the start of the season before sustaining an injury, has joined Lowestoft. 'He is a great lad and a good player and I wish him all the very, very best for the future,' said Derbyshire. Town, who saw their game at Ipswich Wanderers at the weekend abandoned because of floodlight failure when they were losing 3-0, return to action tomorrow when they host March (3pm). Yarmouth are bidding for a double after a 2-1 win in September.
