The emphasis will be on sartorial elegance as well as low scoring next Thursday when Bawburgh Golf Club hosts a Trilby Tour event for the second successive year.

Televised by Sky Sports Golf, the national competition is billed as the largest amateur golf television series in the UK and Europe.

Heading into its 11th year, the series is backed by Savile Row tailor‎ William Hunt, with the players taking to the course dressed in his range of clothing and sporting one of his signature Trilby hats.

Bawburgh is staging the first of a series of regional championships across the UK, with the top 10 from each earning their place at the grand final at Hull Golf Club at the end of August.

Thursday promises to be hectic day, with 144 players teeing off from 6.45am to 2pm.

The grand finale of the day will see the top four players battle it out in a three hole play-off to find the Trilby Tour champion of Norfolk. The event is open to the public, with free admission, so there's an opportunity to see some exciting golf - and maybe even get on the television!

The event is being sponsored by Holden Group, Heineken, ECR, Munnings Construction, Alan Boswell, MKM Building Supplies, Heat Different, Park Farm Hotel, Myhill Decorators and Max Golf Protein.

Meanwhile Norfolk had a tough weekend at the annual Eastern Counties Foursomes at Seacroft in Lincolnshire.

In their second outing since professional Michael Few took over as manager and coach they struggled to make an impact against some strong opposition and finished last of the nine teams taking part.

Norfolk picked up three points on Saturday morning and four-and-a-half in the afternoon to head into the second day with a chance of finishing in mid-table. But a tally of three points on Sunday morning and just one-and-a-half in the afternoon scuppered those hopes and they finished five-and-half points adrift at the foot of the standings.

Final positions: Essex 25, Berks/Bucks/Oxon 24, Leicestershire/Rutland 22, Cambridgeshire 21.5, Suffolk 20.5, Bedfordshire 20, Lincolnshire 17.5, Northants 17.5, Norfolk 12.

A familiar face has returned to Mundesley as club professional.

The club's has announced a new three-year vision aiming to increase membership and build on the nine-hole course's flexibility to provide a challenge for golfers of all ages and abilities.

'I am delighted to be coming back to a really friendly club at an exciting time, and to be spending more time coaching which is where my heart is,' said Pudney.
