There was much to celebrate at the Athletics Norfolk awards evening.
Chairman Clive Poyner said there had been 800 entries for the track and field championships, over 200 for the indoor championships and 500 for the cross country championship at Thetford.
Among the winners were Hattie Reynolds, fifth in the U13 national cross country championships, and Abbie Durand, third in the U15 national cross country – both from North Norfolk Harriers. A special mention goes to the City of Norwich U15 girls Kate Willis, Megan Gadsby, Madeleine Short and Grace Jermy who won the team title at the national cross country championships – and credit to their coach, David Pring. Coach of the year is throws coach Gary Howe from Thetford. Three of the senior award winners were missing for very good reasons: Chris Baker (high jump), Iona Lake (steeplechase) and Sophie McKinna (shot) are heading for the Commonwealth Games in Australia.
