Kenny McLean has been announced as Norwich City's 2023-24 player of the season.

The Canaries stalwart wins the Barry Butler Memorial Trophy for the first time in his six years at the club, having impressed with his outstandingly consistent performances in good and bad form.

McLean has made five assists and scored two goals across 48 games this term, many of this as captain in Grant Hanley's absence, as well as playing regularly in a new centre-back position.

Previous holder Gabriel Sara, who's scored 13 goals and claimed 12 assists in all competitions, was second, with top goalscorer Josh Sargent finishing third despite a four-month injury lay-off.

Speaking to official club channels of the award, the Scot said: "Obviously, I'm really happy with the award and the fact that the fans have voted for me to win it is pretty nice.

"We had a few candidates, which is good and means it's been pretty good, especially recently. It's great, and I appreciate all the support we've had, for me personally, and for the team throughout the season."
