A Thetford couple has won an award for their voluntary work in swimming.
Robert Barrett and Dianne Barrett were recognised for their combined 40-year voluntary contributions to Swim England Norfolk County by being awarded the Tony Smith Salver Award for 2024.
The Tony Smith Salver Award was created last year to honour volunteers in Norfolk swimming and is named after Tony Smith, a former long-time referee for Norfolk County Galas.
In addition to the more than 40 years combined that they’ve spent supporting the community swimming scene, the Barrett's have held several roles including championships secretary, gala helper liaison, records, trophies, county colours and county president.
