Smart phone app for Suffolk housing tenants

10:51 25 October 2012

Tenants in affordable housing in Suffolk will be able to request repairs and pay bills at the touch of a button after the launch of the county’s first specialised smart phone app.

The new app, which is available for iPhones and Android mobile phones, has been designed to make it easier for Suffolk Housing tenants to get help with a variety of issues.

Ian Winslet, Suffolk Housing chief executive, said: “We are really pleased with this new app and hope that it will give our tenants a fast, convenient way of reporting faults, giving us feedback and getting in touch.

“We are always looking for ways in which we can improve the services which we provide.”

The first of its kind in Suffolk, the app can also be used to report problems such as anti-social behaviour and send in comments, complaints and suggestions.

Tenants can also use it to pay rent, look for jobs in their area, give their feedback on Suffolk Housing’s services or get involved through the tenants’ forum or other residents’ groups.

The service, available at the app store, also features a special calculator to help tenants find out how their housing benefit will be affected by government plans to restrict payments to people living in homes that are deemed too big for their needs, which is due to be introduced in April.
