A new development of 66 apartments fronting the River Wensum, on a vacant site next to the Novi Sad bridge in Norwich, will finally complete the jigsaw of the wider regeneration of Wherry Road.

Work has already started on the 0.62 acre site, which is one of the last in the area to be developed.

The one and two-bedroom apartments will include balconies with river views and will range in height from three to six storeys. They will also have secured undercroft parking and a raised amenity deck.

Generator Developments secured planning last year in a joint venture with the site owner and following its subsequent acquisition, it has now started construction on site.

It’s the second site in Norfolk acquired by Generator, which has recently secured consent for 105 new homes on seven acres in Blofield, near Norwich.

Paul Isaacs, managing director of Generator Developments, said: “This brownfield city centre site has been left vacant for a considerable number of years and is in much need of redevelopment in line with the regeneration of the surrounding area.

“We are actively looking for additional development opportunities across the region and hope to continue to contribute to the ongoing regeneration of the area.”

Marc Langdon, partner at Bidwells in Norwich, the agents for the site, said the quality apartments added to Norwich’s housing landscape.

He added: “Boasting green credentials, a high standard of specification and secure parking the development will be attractive to a broad demographic of buyers.”

Apartments should be ready for occupation at the end of 2015/early 2016.
