Police are warning people across Norfolk to be on guard after reports of generators, chainsaws and pressure washers being sold from vans.
Norfolk Constabulary and Norfolk Trading Standards received reports of this activity last week from a number of locations along the Norfolk and Suffolk boarder and several locations in Diss, Dereham and Norwich.
Reports have included cold calls at domestic properties and people being approached in car parks of large retail stores.
A spokesperson for Norfolk Trading Standards said: 'We advise never to purchase items if approached in this manner. There is a high possibility that the items being sold are either stolen or are low quality counterfeits which could be unsafe to use.'
They confirmed it is also possible these sellers could move on to other parts of Norfolk.
Anyone sighting these sellers in Norfolk or concerned about rogue trader activity in their community should contact the Citizens Advice consumer helpline on 03454 040506 or to Norfolk Constabulary via 101.
