Held at the Lenwade Pike Club, the youngsters learned about everything from fly fishing to rig making, tying knots and cooking fish.

The children taking part came from schools including Norwich's Clare School, Great Yarmouth's Edward Worlledge Ormiston Academy, Fred Nicholson School in Dereham, King Edward VII Academy in King's Lynn and Taverham Academy.

Sally Acloque from Fishing for Schools' eastern region team said: 'The children thoroughly enjoyed the day and there was a great buzz of excitement, particularly when they caught a fish.

'Local sponsors and over 40 volunteers enjoyed the enthusiasm of the children.'
