Budding film-makers are being encouraged to submit their films for a special festival celebrating the talent of young people.

The BBC Young Film Makers Festival in Norwich is this year in partnership with the Young Norfolk Arts Festival and Cinema Plus, and organisers are now looking for films to be showcased.

The project aims to highlight the great films being made by young people across the county, and last year's festival featured more than 90 films made by infant school pupils to sixth form students.

This year, as part of the Young Norfolk Arts Festival, Cinema City will be hosting a special film showcase event for under 11s on July 1 and for over 11s on July 3.

Following on from this, the BBC Young Film Makers Festival will screen films in Fusion at the Forum from July 7 to 12 each day from 10am until 5pm.

BBC Young Film Makers producer Gary Standley said the festival was a great way for young film-makers to show off their skills.

He said: 'We are looking for films made in all genres from serious documentaries to comedy pieces to music videos.

'It could be a film about your school or it could be a short drama. All films need to be under 10 minutes, and individuals can send in films as well as schools and other groups.'

Mr Standley said the festival had taken place at the Forum for the past five years, and that the new partnerships for 2014 gave even more opportunities for young people.

He said: 'We are very excited to be linking in this year with Cinema Plus and the Young Norfolk Arts Festival.

'Being part of the Young Norfolk Arts Festival will give even greater exposure to the young film makers' work.

'It has also given us more of an opportunity to involve young people in the curation and showcase itself.

'A team of young people will now be helping to source new talent and film links to bring the films to screen in a new and innovative way.'

The BBC Young Film Makers Festival is open to all young people aged 18 or under at the time the film was made. Schools, individuals and youth groups can all take part. Films must be under 10 minutes. The deadline for submissions is May 31. For an application form email bbcvoices@bbc.co.uk

The Young Norfolk Arts Festival 2014, for which the EDP is the media partner, is from June 27 to July 6.
