A group of 12 to 14-year-olds from the college’s gifted and talented programme are taking part in The Dragons’ Apprentice which has been organised by Norwich-based business group 25:am and Jarrold & Sons.

Split into five different groups, the young entrepreneurs have been given the task of finding a way to increase the sales of Rhino greenhouses by 25pc.

They spent yesterday going on a fact-finding mission and, at St James Mill, in Whitefriars, they worked together in their teams to come up with ideas and strategies.

Today each team will give a 10 minute presentation on their ideas to a panel of “dragons” who are all members of Norwich’s business scene.

The teams taking part in the challenge are The Young Entrepreneurs, Floreat, Apollo, Born to Win and The Super Happy Fun Team.

Elliot Symonds, sales and marketing manager for Jarrold Training and chairman of 25:am, said he was impressed with the creativity and enthusiasm of the students.

He said: “The students are working on a real-life business challenge. They have got to communicate, research, and come up with ideas as a team - and they are coming up with such good marketing ideas and concepts. It is going to be interesting to see their presentations.”

Steven Dye, coordinator of the gifted and talented students at Wymondham College, said: “We wanted to challenge the students and give them a real understanding of how business works.” PHOTO: SIMON FINLAY
