Teachers and friends have spoken of their shock and sadness following the tragic death of Allister Maguire Buck, who died after a collision with a car on the A146 at Stockton on Saturday night.

Mr Maguire Buck was a year 13 student at Wymondham College and was studying for A-levels in history, English and chemistry, with hopes to go to university.

The 17-year-old joined the college from Hobart High School in Loddon in September 2012 and quickly made his mark.

He was selected to travel to Madrid as part of a student delegation to the Model European Parliament there and also took part in the subsequent international session of the MEP hosted by Wymondham College in Norwich last March.

MEP delegates from across Europe have been expressing their condolences on social media.

Wymondham College principal Melvyn Roffe said, 'Allister was a hugely popular as well as a successful student. He had the knack of getting on with all sorts of people, his mind was sharp and his sense of humour was infectious. Allister was someone who would have made a difference in the world; his tragic death leaves us all the poorer.'

Allister's form tutor Rory McShane said, 'Allister was immensely kind, polite and charming. He had a sense of poise, a subtle sense of humour and a personal charm beyond his years. He would always be the first to step forward to help in any way he could. The sense of loss for everyone in his tutor group is profound.'

Mr Maguire Buck's fellow students also paid tribute to an outstanding friend.

Anton Tevola, who had known him for most of his life said: 'Allister was truly one of the most appreciated guys at our college. He never failed to surprise me with his humorous personality and charisma. He will be sorely missed by all and forever there will be a void where he once was.'

Pup Rusby joined Wymondham College at the same time as Mr Maguire Buck. He said: 'Allister provided all of us with some great memories, which will last forever. He was always enjoyable to be around; his amazing sense of humour portrayed his brilliant mind. He was one of the most loved people in the sixth form who could always put a smile on anybody's face. We all will miss him loads and he will never be forgotten.'

Another friend, Edmund Roffe said: 'I have never before seen the thirst for life that Allister possessed. If something mattered to him, he would devote everything to it, and undoubtedly what mattered most to him were his friends. With his charm, wit and warmth of character it is hard to imagine Allister's future being anything but great, only making this loss all the more tragic.'

Mr Maguire Buck was killed near to the junction with Raveningham Road at 6.20pm on Saturday evening.

He was on foot when he was in collision with a BMW car near to his family home in Stockton.
