Green Dog specialises in healthy meals created with no chemicals – but its latest invention takes using the finest ingredients to the extreme.

Packed with truffles, swordfish, caviar, lobster and saffron, it should be enough to put the wag into any dog’s tail.

Green Dog managing director Simon Booth said: “Within the pet food market the quality of ingredients is getting better and better.

“We thought going for the highest quality possible was a good idea.

Pampered Pets

• Pop singer Mariah Carey is said to spend £28,000 a year on grooming her eight dogs. They have a full-time groomer and chauffeur in case their legs get tired.

• One of the most famous faces in the celebrity pet world is Tinkerbell whose owner, Paris Hilton, even bought her a $325,000 replica of her own home. When the chihuahua went missing the socialite offered a $5,000 reward.

Sir Elton John’s American spaniel Arthur has featured on one of his albums and accompanied him on to the red carpet.

George Clooney’s pet pig Max once proved pigs can fly by taking a trip in John Travolta’s private jet.

• For years Bubbles the chimp was seen beside Michael Jackson often wearing matching outfits. Bubbles was rumoured to have his own bodyguard.

“We have already received some orders and it is attracting quite a lot of interest.”

The average pet would get through the 2kg bag in just 10 days.

Mr Booth said: “We count some of the UK’s most affluent dog owners among our customers.

“These include MDs, CEOs, celebrities and other VIPs for whom money is simply no object.

“Many have repeatedly asked us if we could create a special recipe incorporating some of the world’s finest foods.”

Due to the bespoke nature of the luxury chow it will require 500 orders to roll out production.

The special blend can take up to 12 weeks to prepare.

Pets belonging to members of the public are used to test each of Green Dog’s recipes.

The company believes that dogs should be fed naturally derived ingredients and everything in its food must be digestible.

Would you pamper your pooch?

John Evans, 64, from Fife, but on holiday in Holme-next-the-sea, said he would not pay £200 for Tay’s dinner.

He said: “It’s a bit much.

“He’s quite a lean dog and we try to give him a good diet. He gets a bit of chicken cooked for him and mixed in with his biscuit.”

Cynthia Shepherd, 67, took the very friendly Macey on holiday to Norfolk from Sheffield. She said: “She’s a pampered dog but not that pampered. At the moment she’s on a very bland diet but that is just too much.”

Sandringham local Simone Walls was taking her three show dogs, Woody, Roxy and Brandon, for an excited wander in the woods.

She said: “I don’t think it is right for dogs to have such food.

“These are top quality dogs but I wouldn’t pay that much for their food. I am sure Woody would eat it and love it but he’d eat anything.”

Ray and Sheila Longstaff, of Forest Drive, Heacham, were taking their 13-year-old dogs Harvey and Barney for a stroll.

Mr Longstaff said: “I wouldn’t think we’d ever buy that.

“These are on a special diet so it wouldn’t agree with them but I don’t think we would even if they were younger dogs.

“I am not sure it would be good for them.”
