Would-be burglars were disturbed by an elderly resident as they tried to break into a home - and were later involved in a collision as they were chased by police.

The incident happened at Mill Farm Nurseries at about 8pm on Tuesday, May 2, when three men were seen to arrive in a silver Volkswagen Golf.

Suspects then entered the back garden of an address before making attempts to force open a window. The would-be burglars failed to gain access and fled the scene after being disturbed by the elderly resident.

Just under an hour later, at 8.53pm, police received reports of three men acting suspiciously in Lawson Road and Harefield Road in Croxton.

The men were seen looking through windows of properties and trying door handles, before leaving the scene in a silver Volkswagen Golf.

Officers traced the vehicle and were involved in a short pursuit until the Golf stopped after being involved in collision in Mundford Road at the junction with Croxton Road in Thetford.

Suspects then ran from the vehicle, heading along Vicarage Road then Station Road towards the railway station and escaped from police.

Detectives are linking the incidents and would like to hear from anyone who may have information concerning the suspects.

Witnesses should contact DC Alex Gilmore at Thetford CID on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
