Workers installing new gas mains have uncovered what is believed to be the grave of a medieval child.
National Grid contractors have found a small skeleton close to King's Lynn Minster, where they have been digging up the town's Saturday Market Place.
There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances. A Norfolk police spokesman said the find was reported to the force this lunchtime.
'The did disturb what they thought was an old grave and we've made environmental health aware,' she added.
National Grid said it was still looking into the find. Part of the square has been dug up to allow iron mains to be replaced with plastic pipes.
