Work creating a bus lane up Grapes Hill on the Norwich Inner Ring Road is ahead of schedule.

The works, which were due to take 12 weeks to complete, are due to finish at the end of next week – two weeks earlier than planned.

The creation of a bus lane up Grapes Hill will help buses avoid queues at the Grapes Hill roundabout, making journeys quicker and more reliable.

Resurfacing work is taking place during off-peak hours on Thursday and Friday, but may overrun and impact on Friday’s evening rush hour.

Norwich City Council and Norfolk County Councils apologised for any inconvenience caused.

  • Hello @Luciopercia - Your reply interested me, but we're looking 'not' to rely on Norwich - o.k., maybe occasional daytrips. Although, if I get my way - trips to Norwich will require overnight accomodation or more!

  • Just come back after a week away and there appears to be no progress whatsoever. Is there no incentive to finish the project early?

  • What a joke these contractors could have completed this job a month ago if they had put in a decent days work. Never seen such a group of men with there bright jackets doing nothing for such a long time

  • @biglingers I have just made the move in th eopporsite direction. The convenience of a 20 minute walk into the city or at worst a £2.60 bus ride is bliss compared to the usual queueing on an arterial route into Norwich. And if the weather is warm I can have a cold beer in a pub garden on my way home if the weather is warm! Im afraid we have to accept that Norwich is what it is .. a small city hampered by a compressed internal road system that is having to deal with an ever burgeoning number of road users. Whilst I am loathe to go OTT and sing the praises of the council, I struggle to see what really can be done to improve the lot of the commuter and occasional city driver.

  • Remarkable - someone's got something right at last in Norwich! - Now let's see what Worstbus (sorry Firstbus) make of it! Wonder what the excuse they will trot out now for late buses? For my critics, I have sold my house and plan to move to civilisation - outside the outer ring rd., make what you can of that - how long will it take you?
