Work has been completed in north Norfolk to help save a rare species of butterfly after a grant from a local supermarket.
The wooded areas of East and West Beckham host the ideal plants to support the White Admiral butterfly, which is listed as a priority by conservationists.
Invasive bracken and bramble was removed, which was taking over areas of West Beckham Green and East Beckham Common, killing flowers and blocking access to visitors.
Beckham Parish Council received a grant of £1000 from Tesco's Bags of Help scheme, working with Ground Work East, which raises money from the sale of 5p bags.
The work was completed by The Norwich Conservation Volunteers.
Parish councillor Julia Dovey said: 'Work at West Beckham Green uncovered a carpet of snowdrops and we are looking forward to an enhanced show of bluebells on East Beckham Common. The woods also have the ideal plants for the rare White Admiral butterfly.
'The grant has covered the expenses for the volunteers to give us two days of their time and will allow us to buy a selection of bird and bat boxes to be installed in the woods before autumn.'
