A Lowestoft woman has been charged with causing death by careless/inconsiderate driving and using a motor vehicle in a condition likely to cause danger of injury following the death of a 74-year-old man.
Samantha Pitcher, 28, from Maidstone Road, has been charged by police after retired architect David Wright died when the blue Renault Megane she was driving was involved in a collision with him on the A12 Yarmouth Road.
The fatal collision happened near to the Foxburrow Beefeater pub and restaurant just before 9pm on Monday, February 18.
Mr Wright had been crossing the road with his wife when the collision happened.
He was pronounced dead at the James Paget University Hospital in Gorleston and his wife was taken there with serious injuries
A police spokesman said: “The driver of the Renault Megane, Samantha Pitcher, aged 28 years from Maidstone Road, Lowestoft has been charged with causing death by careless/inconsiderate driving and using a motor vehicle in a condition likely to cause danger of injury.
She will appear at Lowestoft Magistrates’ Court on September 10.”
