A woman in her 40s was airlifted from a north Norfolk beach to hospital after having an asthma attack.

The East Anglian Air Ambulance and a rapid response vehicle from the East of England Ambulance Service were called to Overstrand beach at 6.14pm last night.

Eight Coastguard rescue officers from the Cromer and Sheringham teams, along with Cromer inshore lifeboat, were alerted at 6.24pm to search for the woman between Overstrand and Cromer east beach.

The volunteers gave first aid before the arrival of the paramedic and the helicopter.

The air ambulance landed on Overstrand beach at 7pm and the woman was airlifted to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.

A spokesman for the medical charity said the woman was left in a “stable condition”.
