Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman was robbed in woodland in Costessey.

The robbery took place at around 2pm yesterday, when a woman in her mid-40s was walking from the Hampdens towards the bus stop on Longwater Lane, when she was approached by a man from behind.

He demanded that she give him her black leather handbag, before grabbing her and running off towards Sainsbury’s.

The offender is described as white, between 6ft and 6ft 1ins tall, aged in his 40s with a dark brown beard and a local accent.

He was wearing a blue navy sweatshirt, blue jeans with rips in and white trainers.

Anyone with information should contact DC Sharon Fish on 101 or call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
