A 35-year-old woman failed a breath test after a road traffic collision in Halesworth.

Emergency services were called to an incident on Blythe Road Industrial Estate at about 12.15am this morning.

Fire crews from Halesworth and Bungay and the rescue pump from Leiston were called out.

The incident involved one car, a blue SEAT Ibiza, and a lamp post.

Police said the lamp post was leaning over away from the road and that the Highways Agency and Suffolk County Council had been informed.

Firefighters removed the roof of the vehicle to release one medically trapped casualty who was left in the care of the ambulance service.

The crews were back at base by 1.52am.

The driver was taken to Norwich and Norfolk University Hospital for her injuries and after failing a breath test at the scene, police will await the result of a subsequent blood test.
