A woman in her 70s died last night after the car she was travelling in failed to stop at a junction on the Cromer Road near Hevingham.

The silver Toyota Yaris was travelling up Short Thorn Road towards the junction with the A140 around 10.25pm last night.

Norfolk police said the car failed to stop at the junction and “came to rest in some trees”.

The woman died at the scene whilst the male driver, also in his 70s, suffered serious chest injuries and was taken to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hosptial.

Norfolk police said both the man and the woman are from the Norwich area, and that one else was involved.

Norfolk police are appealing for any witnesses who saw the crash or the way in which the car was travelling before the accident.

Information should be given the Serious Collision Investigation Unit at Wymondham on 101.
