Zofia Fijalkowska was given the chance to design a piece of art good enough to eat off after winning the contest at Christmas.

And today she collected her prize - a plate she designed at the Sticky Earth cafe, which has been varnished and fired by staff at the Church Road eatery.

The talented 10-year-old was crowned the overall winner of the Cromer Christmas Lights poster competition, after she wowed judges with her detailed portrait of a festive robin.

Her poster was put up around the town and she was also made guest of honour at Cromer’s festive celebrations when she turned on the Christmas lights.

Ian Glover, vice chairman of the lights committee, said: “This was the first time we have had a child switch on the lights. Other years we have had something - a memento - made to give to the people who switch them on.

“This year we thought we can still do that but they can make it themselves.”

Zofia, a pupil at Cromer Junior School, designed her plate last weekend with her family and collected her finished creation this afternoon.

Her mum Rachel said: “It ended up being a lovely family time, we were all able to make a plate and we all had a really enjoyable time.

“The whole experience has been really important for her I think, and allowed her to develop her artistic skills.”
