Christmas gives everyone the chance to look their best.

Christmas never looked this good in the local towns and city of Norfolk. As the windows start to fill up with this season’s latest looks, you know the party frocks and dancing slippers won’t be far behind.

Although the latest buzz is all about normcore – dressed-down style, as-it-comes hair, and a studiedly relaxed fit when it comes to jeans and sweaters – all bets are off when it comes to the festive season.

After all, Christmas has never been known for normal.

Take a look through the brightening windows of your local jewellers to work the latest sparkles. This Christmas, earrings are being worn singly and with style. Don’t be shy about this one; try something attention-seeking with faux pearls and feathers, or go for the sparkle of chandelier-style earrings – guaranteed to catch the fairy lights and light up your look.

It’s always a relief to shuck the winter overcoats and workaday boots once the party season is in full swing. You could swap your practical flats for ballerina pumps, ditch the darks and slip into a knee-grazing, pussy-bowed frock, and throw a long, luxurious robe-style coat over your shoulders.

Christmas means colour. And colour means glamour. When it comes to party dresses, look out for red-carpet scarlets – as seen on a least half a dozen A-listers at the recent Emmy awards – or work the time-honoured little black dress with a cinched waist and dress it up with another of this season’s key jewellery trends: the jewelled collar.

Tailoring is a key player in the men’s fashion story this year – so no change there. Since this Christmas promises to be a bright and colourful affair, with lots of reds and sparkle, try working a bit of that look too. Dress up a suit with a bold block of colour, or work the classy casual look.

One fashion story from last year that hasn’t gone away is the kitschy Christmas sweater. It’s one of those looks that always stands a bit of a refresh, so browse the new knits coming to a shop shelf near you soon.

It’s easy to find the latest looks locally. As the season nears, make time to visit your local boutiques and jewellers to see what’s coming straight off the Christmas catwalks and into your local shops. Friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable staff have been keeping an eye on all the latest trends, and are perfectly placed to help you work your Christmas look to perfection.
