Efforts to save Cromer Town have been dealt a blow after only two people not currently involved with the football club turned up to behind the scenes talks to secure its future - and neither wanted to join the committee.
With many of the current serving members set to stand down at next month's AGM, 15 people had volunteered to help at a crisis meeting at Cabbell Park last month after it was announced that the club would fold without more support.
They were invited to informal talks to discuss who would be willing to put their name forward for an office-bearer role.
However, only one candidate turned up.
Now long-serving officials have warned unless more people come forward by June 24, its next meeting may be less about swearing in a new committee and more about blowing full-time on the club.
Speaking at Cabbell Park on Thursday evening, Cromer Town chairman Paul Jarvis said: 'There has been some positive news in that we've had a couple of people volunteer for a couple of the officer positions, however there are still more to be filled - the treasurer specifically - and other jobs on the committee which are necessary.
'Unfortunately, with only the limited number of people here at the moment it's one step forward but we still haven't gone the whole way forward yet.
'The procedure here is that we will have a committee meeting in a couple of weeks at which we'll discuss the situation we're in, hopefully by that time we will have other people come forward and suggest that they are prepared to take on some roles.
'We will then call an AGM for the second week in July and, if there has been sufficient support shown prior to that, that is when the officers and the new committee will be elected and the club will move forward from there.
'In the event that insufficient number of people come forward to take on and manage the club by the third week in June then the club's current committee may well have to call a general meeting with a view to potentially winding the club up.' But he added: 'We don't want that to happen.'
Last month's meeting heard that the retiring office bearers, Norfolk FA and neighbouring clubs have offered their support to the new committee.
Mr Jarvis pointed out the club needed to fill a number of key roles, including chairman, secretary and treasurer, as well as appoint a new manager, to replace those that are leaving.
The meeting also heard that, although the club has more than £7000 in the bank, the cost of playing next season in the First Division was estimated at around £15,000.
Cromer Town Council and Cromer Chamber of Trade have voiced their support for the club in recent weeks, while former Chelsea, Norwich and Celtic striker Chris Sutton, who has links to the area, backed an appeal to Save the Crabs on Twitter.
The club's pitch was moved earlier this year to accommodate the town's new medical centre.
However, the football club has been given an assurance from North Norfolk District Council that it can remain at Cabbell Park for a further three years while a new sports facility is built at a site yet to be identified.
