A Norwich pub will be filling up its steins when its third German beer festival returns later this month.

The Whalebone Freehouse, on Magdalen Road, will host the event from Friday, September 21 to Sunday 23.

There will be 10 German ales on draft, served in traditional steins, while staff will be wearing lederhosen and dirndl.

Beers Kostritzer Kellerbier and Erdinger Oktoberfest will be among those being poured.

The 26-piece City of Norwich Brass Band will provide the soundtrack to the event, with Oompah music planned.

Steve Fiske, general manager, said: 'This is a fabulous happy event suitable for all the family and we are looking forward to extending a warm welcome to all who attend.'

The band will be performing from 6pm to 8pm on Saturday and from 4.30pm to 7pm on Sunday.

Barbecue food will be on the menu, including German specials such as bratwurst, cheesewurst and currywurst.
