CSV hopes to expand from King’s Lynn and Downham Market to Swaffham, Dereham and Attleborough area along with Cromer
A West Norfolk charity is set to expand across the county thanks to a £420,000 Lottery grant.
CSV, with offices in King’s Lynn and Downham Market, will be looking for more volunteers as it grows its service as a result of the windfall.
The charity runs a mentoring project for people with learning disabilities and helps them to volunteer within their own communities.
Participants work with community volunteers who help them to access training and social events.
As their confidence around people and skills develop, they gradually move into volunteering placements either in a group or an individual setting.
Jemma Mindham, area manager, said: “CSV is delighted to be granted this award as it will provide much needed stability for the project and its beneficiaries in a time of uncertainty and transition in the social care sector. It gives the Vocal Project the security to continue to deliver personalised support to adults with learning disabilities in order to volunteer and access community social opportunities, and provides the opportunity to expand this offering to include supported employment in partnership with other agencies locally.
“The Vocal Project will also now be able to offer this in more areas of Norfolk and to a more diverse range of individuals who would otherwise struggle to become valued members of their communities.”
The charity will be expanding into the Swaffham, Dereham and Attleborough area and also hopes to move into Cromer and North Norfolk.
It will retain its offices in Lynn and Downham but may be looking for accommodation in the Swaffham area and may be able to swap a desk and room for some volunteering.
