Sounds of the 60s and 70s around King’s Lynn and Hunstanton for Let’s Go Back disc
Sounds of the swinging 60s in West Norfolk have been put together for a charity CD out just in time for Christmas.
Bands with names familiar to anyone who remembers Whiskey-a-Go-Go and Tower Street Youth Club are all featured on the CD which is available now.
Groups including Two Plus Four, The Sabres, Danny Ford and the Offbeats, The Geoff Stinton Musicmen and Fabric all perform cover versions which have been included in the 27-track disc.
Organisers Roy Williamson and Geoff Stinton said the CD came about after a reunion earlier this year which saw a number band members from the Lynn area get together.
“It was really good and we decided that we should put tracks on a CD to help charity,” said Mr Williamson, who plays with Two Plus Four.
Macmillan Cancer Support will benefit from all the proceeds raised by the £6.99 disc.
Mr Stinton said the disc had been put together by fellow musician John Self to include a number of live recordings.
“There’s a lot of atmosphere involved - it’s something we really think people will enjoy,” said Mr Stinton.
Let’s Go Back is available in Lynn from True’s Yard, Pastimes, The Record Shop and from Lewks in Downham Market. It can also be bought from Mr Stinton on 01553 761017.
