Fundraisers are on the hunt for couples who got married in St Margaret’s Church in Drayton for a new exhibition.

The church needs some urgent repairs including re-thatching of the nave roof, repair and installation of surface water drains and replacement of a rusty structural support beam.

The team behind the fundraising are planning a Heritage Open Day as part of the project, which will include a display of photographs throughout the years of weddings that have taken place in the church. They have already had promises of photos from the 1940s and one from just after the First World War.

Alongside this project, the church has received a £57,500 grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund to help pay for the repairs.

If you can help with the search for photographs, contact churchwarden Sylvia Barwick on 01603 260851.
