Two people and a dog in a three-man kayak were rescued by Wells Lifeboat crew after getting into difficulty against a strong outgoing tide in Blakeney Harbour.
John Mitchell, a spokesperson for Wells Lifeboat, said the kayakers had called 999 on a mobile after running into trouble on Tuesday.
He said: 'The pair managed to grab hold of a channel maker buoy and hold on to it until help arrived. The inshore lifeboat Peter Wilcox could just clear Wells harbour, as the tide was ebbing rapidly and there was only just sufficient water in the channel to operate.'
He said the lifeboat had arrived on scene and took the kayak in tow to as near Morston Creek as they could get. Due to the lack of water, the crew had helped pull the kayak across the sand to safety. The lifeboat returned to Wells where a low water recovery took place to return the craft to the lifeboat station.
