Gusts of up to 55mph are expected to hit parts of Norfolk later this morning.

Norwich-based forecaster Weatherquest said strong winds and rain will continue through to around 10am.

Weyborne on the North Norfolk coast recorded the highest wind speed on Thursday morning at 47mph.

Adam Dury, forecaster at Weatherquest, said: 'The wind is due to an area of low pressure over the North Sea.

'Once the rain has passed through by 9am to 10am, it should be quite a dry day.'

Mr Dury said there could be further light showers in the north eastern part of the county.

Wind speed is also forecast to die down in the afternoon, reducing to 10mph by 6pm.

The Met Office issued a yellow warning for Norfolk yesterday ahead of the strong winds.
