Temperatures are set to rise across Norfolk in the coming days with parts of the county seeing highs of 27C by the end of the week.

But the Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for heavy rain and thunderstorms across the region with some places seeing up to 20mm of rain. It is in place from 6am on Thursday until 6am on Friday.

The warning states: 'Isolated thunderstorms are likely to develop from Thursday morning, before clearing east early on Friday. While these storms may miss many places, where they do develop intense downpours are likely, bringing a low risk of sudden flooding of roads, transport routes, homes and businesses. Lightning and hail may be additional hazards.'

James Wilby, of Norwich-based Weatherquest, said the worst of the rain will come late Thursday night and early Friday morning in Norfolk with some places seeing prolonged heavy showers and frequent lightning.

The rain will move out to the east by Friday afternoon but there is a 30pc chance of showers for the Lord Mayor's Celebration in Norwich on Saturday.

Temperatures over the weekend will stay above average for this time of year with it feeling slightly cooler on Sunday.
