Several spilled on to fields and flood plains as torrential rain and heavy winds battered the region on Friday night.

As the rain eased on Saturday and Sunday, the flooding threat was downgraded but water levels remained very high.

The River Waveney had burst its banks near Weybread on Saturday. The River Thet threatened to do the same near the three Nun's Bridges in Thetford.

Flood warnings were issued by the Environment Agency for the River Nene on North Bank Road between Wisbech and Peterborough.

In Suffolk, Rattlesden River and the River Gipping saw rising water levels following heavy rainfall.
