Streets were flooded last night as spectacular storms hit many parts of Norfolk.

The fire service received several calls reporting flooded streets in King’s Lynn shortly after 8pm.

The speedway meet between King’s Lynn and Eastbourne at the Norfolk Arena was postponed to August 8 after it was hit by the downpour.

Thunder, lightning and downpours also hit Norwich. There were three car crashes at rush hour yesterday as traffic struggled in a sudden downpour.

Shortly after 5pm a Ford Ka hit the central reservation on the A47 by Postwick, causing delays.

Police were called to clear debris off the road.

Just before 5pm there was an accident between two cars on the A146 at Trowse Newton.

By the A140 Cromer Road at Stratton Strawless, a lorry and a Mazda collided, bringing traffic to a halt at around 5.20pm.

Wet weather is set to remain until Sunday when better conditions are forecast.
