The first flakes hit Bradwell and Gorleston at around 3pm and moved steadily up the coast hitting Great Yarmouth soon after.

A fine dusting fell into the evening leaving up to six inches of snow in some places today.

Buses were disrupted first thing this morning due to the deep drifts, with First Buses not running any services due to the dangerous conditions.

The company was soon able to get services up and running, however. From 7.30am the number 8 began running from Caister to the James Paget Hospital (JPH) and from 9am the number 6 began running from Great Yarmouth to Bradwell in both directions.

The number 2 from the JPH to Shrublands, the town centre and Barrack estate is now also running in both directions as well as the X1, but delays are expected on the long distance service.

Roads in and out the town are running smoothly, with the Acle Straight and A47 virtually snow free. However, side and smaller roads are still slushy and deep snow has built up in the Howard Street North car park, although vehicles can still get through.

Rubbish collections have been suspended today (Monday) but Great Yarmouth Borough Council is advising residents to leave their bins out and they will be collected 'when it is safe to do so'.

Collections are currently running two days behind schedule.
