Six teenagers in Waveney have been tasked with raising nearly £4,000 each to go on the trip of a lifetime at the World Scout Jamboree 2019.
The 12-day adventure between July 22 and August 2 next year, at Summit Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve in West Virginia, will bring scouts together from around 140 countries.
Levi Lawson, Jonathan Chilley, Michael Cookson, all from Lowestoft, Seb Faccas, from Carlton Colville, Harry Morfitt, from Worlingham, near Beccles, and Max Clack, from Halesworth, must raise the £3,850 themselves, a tall order for the teenagers, some of whom are also sitting their GCSEs.
Much of that money will go to funding each of the teenagers' trips, but included in the cost is also money to help pay for scouts from developing countries to attend the jamboree.
The World Scout Jamboree is an educational event which aims to bring together the world's young people. Over 10 days, young people find out about each other's' cultures and faiths, learn new skills, and take part in activities.
Levi, 15, has set himself the challenge of walking a total of 3,850km by the start of the Jamboree, and said: 'I can't wait to meet new friends and see everyone together, apparently there will be 51,000 people there.
Michael, 15, said: 'It definitely requires a lot of effort, but I really want to experience how different countries experience scouting.'
Harry Morfitt, 15, from Worlingham said: 'It is challenging but we are getting through it. Everyone else is quite a way away so it is quite a challenge.
'I'm looking forward to meeting new people. It is great to meet people from every corner of the planet.
He added: 'There are going to be people from everywhere because part of the fundraising is for money to pay for someone to go from a less privileged county so it will be great to meet some people we have helped go.'
Amy Morfitt: 'I am incredibly proud but he is actually following in his brother's footsteps who went to Japan four years ago.
'He is trying to focus on his GCSEs and he is trying to find a balance between the two.'
