A handful of homes in Walcott have been without water after a main burst in the wake of Thursday’s storm surge.

A temporary pipe was run over ground in the immediate wake of the floods to get properties reconnected, but the burst pipe has left some residents in Sea View Crescent without a supply today.

Engineers from Anglian Water are now working hard to return the supply to all homes, and hope to have the remainder reconnected later this afternoon.

A spokesman for the utility firm said: “We are sorry a burst main caused by the recent flooding has left some customers in Walcott without water today.

“We appreciate the challenges facing residents there at the moment, and we can only apologise for the added disruption that this burst will inevitably have caused.

“We have already restored water supplies to the majority of our customers by running a temporary pipe over ground, and we have a team of engineers on site working hard to bring the remainder of our customers back on water later this afternoon.

“Once again we apologise for the inconvenience this may have caused but we are doing all we can to restore supplies as safely and quickly as possible.”
