The beautiful north Norfolk coast will provide the backdrop for a two-day charity walk inspired by a woman’s battle with cancer.
Kate Quentin-Hicks, from Hingham, is organising the epic trek from Hunstanton to Cromer to raise money for Wymondham-based cancer charity Star Throwers.
Mrs Quentin-Hicks, 39, was motivated to get a team of walkers together by her friend, Anna Chapman, 36, from Caston, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in July last year.
Mrs Quentin-Hicks said she was excited about the walk, which more than 20 people have already said they would join.
She said: “This will bring a lot of people together to do something really positive. It will also get people exercising and building friendships along the beautiful north Norfolk coast.
“Anna is amazing and she’s staying positive. She’s determined she’s going to fight this thing and she’s a real inspiration to everyone who knows her.”
Mrs Quentin-Hicks said some of the participants planned to camp during the 45-mile walk, others were going to stay in a bed-and-breakfast and others were only going to walk part of the journey.
She said they wanted to fundraise for Star Throwers because of the support they had given to Mrs Chapman.
Mrs Quentin-Hicks said: “They offer a personalised service and they really care for people with cancer, as well as their relatives.
“They do an amazing job and they’re willing to help anybody in that situation.”
Mrs Quentin-Hicks said they had already raised more than £1,300, including about £800 from a tea-and-cake afternoon.
Steven Ho, centre manager at Star Throwers, said: “It’s fantastic that Kate and her friends have arranged and are doing this charity walk to support Star Throwers.
“We are dependant on people like Kate raising money to support our cause so we cannot thank her and everyone involved in the event enough.”
The walk will take place on June 24-25. Anyone wanting to join can email Mrs Quentin-Hicks at email@example.com. Donations can be made online at uk.virginmoneygiving.com/KateQuentinhicks
