Volunteers are being sought to help clean up Dussindale Park.

Graffiti and fly tipping was raised as a concern at the last public meeting of Thorpe St Andrew's safer neighbourhood and policing team.

As a result, an action day has been organised with Thorpe St Andrew Town Council to clean up the park, paths and trails at Dussindale Park, in Pound Lane, on St George's Day tomorrow (Wednesday, April 23).

Town clerk Steven Ford said: 'We are appealing for volunteers to come forward to help us take on the task of getting the park thoroughly cleaned up.

'Anyone willing to help should call the town council office on 01603 701048 or email info@thorpestandrew-tc.gov.uk for more details.'

Circle Wherry Housing is joining the clean-up campaign and enlisting the help of residents of The Denes to tackle the litter and waste problem at the housing development.

'We are grateful for their help in making the environment cleaner and more attractive,' added Mr Ford.

The council will be holding a St George's Day celebration at the Fitzmaurice Pavilion at the park on Sunday. Starting from midday, the event will include maypole dancing, street dance performances, a punch and judy act, a fancy dress competition and a beer tent.
