Vintage tackle in great demand at Norfolk farm sale

Two special vintage lots – a 1947 combine harvester and a 1953 Morris Oxford truck aroused huge interest at a Norfolk farm machinery dispersal.
A big company of buyers thronged on a cold wintry day to Hill Farm, Oxwick, near Fakenham. The bidding was fierce, reported auctioneer Simon Wearmouth, of Brown & Co.
Having sold the farm, AJ & GJ Spinks, there were more than 300 lots including horse-drawn ploughs and millstones to modern straw turners and a 1998 Massey Ferguson 4235 tractor.
Of principal interest at the sale field was a 1953 Morris Oxford Pickup Truck which is reportedly one of only 12 remaining in the UK and of 206 in the world, which was in need of significant restoration. It was bought for £1,900 to a Morris Oxford Club member.
A 1947 Massey Harris 722 combine harvester, which was in very good order, was sold to a local buyer for £6,200.
