Thanks for the memories – that was the message from an overwhelmed Ken Brown after he was presented with a book of stories and anecdotes from some of Norwich City’s most famous names.
The ‘life book’ was compiled by his wife, Elaine, to mark the former Canaries manager’s 80th birthday, and presented to him on Sunday.
It includes messages from family, friends and famous figures ranging from Sir Alex Ferguson to David Essex, as well as poignant memories from former players and team-mates at Norwich City and West Ham United.
Now fans are being invited to send in their memories of the former City manager to be included in an extended version of the book.

Mr Brown said he had been “gobsmacked” at the tributes – but had still not worked his way through them all.
“It still hasn’t sunk in yet - there are so many people and names in the book that bring so many memories back,” he said.
“I just don’t know where it’s all come from. It’s hard to put it into words and it takes the wind out of you. I’ve had such a lucky life.”
Messages and memories have also been left on this newspaper’s website as fans fondly remember the man who led the club to promotion twice, and the 1985 Milk Cup.
They include fans telling of Mr Brown handing out free tickets to matches, and arranging for them to visit training sessions, with one even saying memories of him had inspired them to renew their season ticket this year.
“To hear that from fans is wonderful, because they are the people who make the game,” he said.
“I’m quite a laid-back person, and don’t usually think about history – I prefer to think of tomorrow – but these are all bringing memories back.”
Mr Brown thanked his wife – “the best thing that ever happened to me” – for the book, and staff at Potters in Great Yarmouth for arranging its surprise presentation on Sunday night.
The couple will continue their celebrations in March, when they fly to Grenada to renew their wedding vows.
