The world renowned Red Arrows are set to make a welcome return to the Cromer Carnival line-up this summer, it can be revealed.
The Red Arrows, which are this year celebrating their 50th display season with a new Union Jack livery on the tailfin, did not visit the coastal town last year and were replaced in the carnival schedule by the Blades Aerobatic Display team and Wildcat Aerobatics team.
But in this historic year for the display team the Red Arrows have revealed their 2014 display calendar which shows a visit to Cromer Carnival on Wednesday, August 20.
If the flying visit goes ahead as stated it would be a welcome return for the spectacular display team following last year’s no show at the popular seaside carnival as it clashed with the Eastbourne International Air Show.
Kate Royall, a committee member of the Cromer Carnival, said: “We’re delighted to see on the Red Arrows website that they are due to perform at the 45th Cromer Carnival.
“At the moment we’re awaiting official confirmation from the team.”
The Red Arrows, like the Cromer Carnival, itself have a prestigious history and have been promoting the professional excellence of the Royal Air Force since the team’s first season in 1965 when they flew 65 displays in Britain, France, Italy, Holland, Belgium and Germany.
The Red Arrows have flown over 4,000 displays in 52 countries since being formed in 1965 and today are renowned throughout the world, acting as ambassadors for Great Britain when displaying overseas.
The new tailfin, which was unveiled at the team’s home at RAF Scampton in Lincolnshire, is the most significant change to the look of the team’s famous aircraft in its history.
In the shape of a Union flag, the striking new tail design reflects the Best of British and emphasises the Red Arrows’ role as ambassadors for the United Kingdom and as the public face of the Royal Air Force.
