The Hawk and Owl Trust tweeted yesterday: “The first chick hatches at Norwich Cathedral. In fact it was still in half of its shell when the male comes in to see his new offspring. So keen was he that he almost pushes the female off the nest.”

The trust added tweeted this morning: “Our 1st #nrperegrines chick @nrw_cathedral got its first feed from mum at 06.17 this morning. It looks fit and well. We will post a video clip of this wonderful sight later today. More hatching expected soon so stay tuned.”

  • Trouble with all this is.....did any of the chicks from last year survive? I seem to recall at least a couple of losses.

  • I visited the Cathedral in the week leading up to Easter and a lady from the Hawk and Owl Trust told me that she expected the chicks to start hatching on either the 26th or 27th of April....not even the NHS can work to that degree of accuracy!
