Individuals affected by the devastating tidal surge last month are starting to benefit from the thousands of pounds donated to the EDP Norfolk and Lowestoft Flood Appeal.

The fund has so far raised more than £150,000 thanks to the generosity of readers, groups and businesses.

Cash is now starting to go directly to those who need it most in communities across Norfolk and Suffolk.

People in Walcott and Bacton who have benefited from the money include a retired plumber who had to dig into his savings to replace his kitchen, washing machine and fridge freezer after they were destroyed by the sea water.

He said he was “humbled” and “overwhelmed” after receiving the appeal money.

To find out how your money has helped people read tomorrow’s EDP.
