The popular pooch and his trainer Ashleigh Butler were at Waterstones in Castle Street on Friday night to sign copies of Pudsey’s own shaggy dog tale.

The six-year-old mongrel has ‘penned’ ‘Pudsey - My Autobidography’ and he and Ashleigh were signing copies of the tongue-in-cheek book, which charts his remarkable rise.

Ashleigh, 17, who hails from Wellingborough in Northamptonshire, said it was a first visit to Norwich for her and Pudsey, after what has been a whirlwind few months since winning the television talent show.

She said: “It’s been a crazy five months. Some of the experiences we have had have been amazing. I would never have imagined in a million years that this would have happened when I first entered Britain’s Got Talent.

“The first audition didn’t go as planned and I didn’t think I’d make it through to appearing in front of the judges, let alone winning it.”

On Pudsey’s book, she said: “It was really good fun getting it together, going back through Pudsey’s past.

“People know what happened on Britain’s Got Talent, but it tells the story of before that and the life he has led.”

After a year which has seen a trip to the United States, next on the agenda is a stint in pantomime, with the pair performing in Dick Whittington at Woking.

But before that, the duo will appear at the Royal Variety Performance in front of The Queen.

Ashleigh said: “I want to make it bigger and better than Britain’s Got Talent. We are training every day and we’re trying to make it something very British.”

She said fame had not gone to Pudsey’s head, but hinted that he could be set for even more stardom.

“We’re in talks about a film,” she revealed. “That would be very exciting.”
