Police were called at 10.40am this morning to reports of a woman in the river near the Red Lion pub in Bishopgate.

Boats from Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service and the Broads Authority were also called to the scene to help rescue the woman who, according to eyewitnesses, was clinging to vines trailing down from the steep bank on the opposite side of the river to the pub.

She was treated by ambulance at the scene and taken to hospital for further assessment.
